GetSpeed will make the step across the pond next season. The team will compete in the Rolex 24 at Daytona for the first time from January 23 to 26, 2025. Together with Bartone Bros, GetSpeed will enter a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the first round of the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.
“We have contested 24-hour races at the Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps and in Dubai, and now the next big step is on the agenda for us,” says Team Principal Adam Osieka. “The race in Daytona is an interesting field for us with its mix of prototypes and GT3 sports cars. We have already been successful in this segment in the Asian Le Mans Series and the ‘Road to Le Mans’ race.”
The 24-hour race in Daytona has a special flair, as the 5.73-kilometer street circuit leads over parts of the legendary Trioval in the south of the United States of America. This year, the GT3 winner completed 733 laps, i.e. around 4,200 kilometers at an average speed of 175 km/h.
One week before the actual race, the so-called ‘Roar before the Rolex 24’ takes place from January 17 to 19 as a prologue to the race. Here, the teams have three days to prepare for the traditional endurance race in the USA, which has been held since 1966. The list of winners of the 24 Hours of Daytona reads like a who’s who of international motorsport. Legends such as Rolf Stommelen, Hans Herrmann, Jacky Ickx, Mario Andretti, Bob Wollek, Thierry Boutsen and Al Unser.
